Will the titanium clips used in the procedure cause issues going through airport security?
No − the titanium clips used in the procedure are non-magnetic, so will not cause any future issues with airport security, MRI scans, or metal detectors in the future.
Do vasectomies protect against sexually transmitted infection (STI)?
No − if you are at risk of STIs you should also use a form of contraception that protects against them, such as condoms.
Are there alternatives to a vasectomy?
Before committing to having a vasectomy, you should also be aware of alternatives forms of contraception:
- If you have a penis, this includes male condoms.
- If you have a vagina, this includes oral contraceptives (e.g. ‘the pill’), intrauterine devices (IUDs), other hormonal options (e.g. patch, injection, implant, vaginal ring), or tubal ligation (‘tying the tubes’).
