Gary Owen Porter M.Ed.
Gary's professional journey at Dalhousie Student Health and Wellness began in February 2017. The launch of same-day counselling and the prospect of a stepped-care model sounded exciting, so he came on board during same-day counselling’s inception.
Gary appreciates the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of other offices. This includes spending time at the International Centre, Melda Murray Student Centre (Sexton Campus), and University of King’s College. Student Health and Wellness allows Gary to utilize all his skills as a therapist, including his history supporting those with ADHD and learning disabilities. He believes in reducing barriers that hinder success, while encouraging the development of resilience. His goal is to offer students a welcoming, comfortable space to explore and work through the challenges they face.
