Emma Lamptey, MSW RSW

As a same-day counsellor, Emma helps students who are facing a number of challenges from anxiety, depression, homesickness, academic stress, eating disorders, trauma and more.

Her educational background is a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Psychology from Acadia University. She practices from a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive lens and uses a combination of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Relational Therapy, and Narrative Therapy in her approach.

Emma often talks with students about the importance of self-compassion, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. In a typical session with her, you’ll have a balance of learning about how your brain works as well as working toward finding a solution for whatever brought you to book a session.

As a queer therapist, she is passionate about working with LGBTQ+ students and can help navigate coming out, dating, safer sex practices, and other issues facing the community.

Her personal favourite self-care strategies are cooking, baking, crocheting and snuggling with her two fur babies (her cat Delilah and dog Luna).
