Accessibility at Dal

Cultivating positive experiences for all of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors is essential to achieving our mission. That’s why it’s so important that our campuses, classrooms, and offices are barrier-free and that accommodations are available for all who need them.

Accessibility plan

Our Accessibility Plan includes initiatives to improve accessibility in the built environment; teaching, learning, and research; goods and services; information and communication; transportation; and employment. We are committed to the work required to achieve this goal for our community.

Student accessibility

The Student Accessibility Centre (Halifax) and the Student Success Centre (Truro)  are Dalhousie’s centres of expertise on student access, inclusion, and accommodation support.

Accessible employment

Within Dalhousie’s Human Resources, a dedicated Accessible Employment team administers the University’s Employment Accommodation Policy to provide a workplace that supports full participation and engagement.

Accessible Employment also administers provisions of the University’s sick leave benefits, which include short-term sick leave for illness/injury, long-term disability benefits, and return to work planning, as well as education and outreach to the broad Dalhousie community.
