Menstrual Products

Now available in restrooms on campus

Menstrual products are available in nearly 100 restrooms across Dalhousie University. See a complete list of locations per campus.

The availability of menstrual products in restrooms on campus is intended to improve access and reduce barriers for all persons who menstruate, regardless of gender identity. Menstrual products will be available in men’s, women’s and all-gender restrooms.

Dalhousie recognizes the importance of helping improve the accessibility of menstrual products and highlighting the global issue of period poverty. The lack of access to menstrual products is a growing concern in Canada and around the world, with one-third of Canadians under the age of 25 who menstruate struggling to buy enough products every month (Plan International Canada, 2018).

A door sticker will be located below the gender signage on the restroom doors that identifies those containing menstrual products. People are encouraged to take only as many products as they need. If the supply in a restroom needs to be replenished, please contact menstrualproducts@dal.ca.

Menstrual products are available in one female, one male, and one all-gender restroom (if present) in select buildings on campus.

Note: This a pilot project that is subject to review.
