Purpose
The purpose of the Senate Honorary Degrees Committee is to oversee the nomination of candidates for honorary degrees and to advise Senate on the awarding and revocation of honorary degrees.

PURPOSE
The purspoe of the Senate Honorary degrees Committee is to oversee the nomination of candidates for honorary degrees and to advise Senate on the awarding and revocation of honorary degrees.
COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP
1. Ex Officio Voting Members
- President (Committee Chair)
- Chancellor
- Vice-Chair (Academic Programs)
- President, Dalhousie Student Union
2. Elected Voting Members
- 1 member from each Faculty, no fewer than 2 of whom shall be Elected Academic Unit Senetars.
3. Student Voting members
- 1 student apointed by the Dalhousie Student Union.
4. Board of Governors Voting Members
- 2 members appointed by the Board of Governors.
5. Alumni Voting Member
- 1 member appointed by the Dalhousie University Alumni Association.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senate Honorary Degrees Committee is responsible for the following:
1. Nomination of Honorary Degree Candidates
- Recommending to Senate the adoption of criteria for the nomination of honorary degree candidates;
- Developing procedures for the nomination of honorary degree candidates; and
- Making nominations for honorary degree candidates to Senate.
2. Revocation of Honorary Degrees
- Recommending to Senate the adoption of criteria for the revocation of an honorary degree;
- Developing procedures for the revocation of an honorary degree;
- Recommending to Senate the revocation of an honorary degree.
3. Other tasks
- Taking whatever action is required to fulfill the mandate of the Committee; and
- Executing other tasks as directed by Senate.
