Placement in a specific discipline is competitive and based on academic performance in the first year.
In the third year of your degree, you will transition into your discipline and can choose to combine your degree with co-operative education.

Minimum admission requirements
To be considered for admission to this program, you must meet minimum academic criteria:
- Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
- Achievement of the minimum average for your program of choice.
- Completion of Grade 12 English (or equivalent course).
Admission to many Dalhousie programs is competitive. This means that meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

Program options
The Bachelor of Engineering program offers many opportunities for both focus and expansion of your learning journey through establishing a discipline, with options to spend two years on the Truro Agricultural campus, and/or gaining work experience while you study.
After completing your first two years of study, you can choose to graduate with a Diploma in Engineering (DipEng).
Your third year will mark your transition into your discipline, which you can choose to partner with co-operative education. The Faculty of Engineering co-operative education system offers students the opportunity to alternate periods of study with periods of university approved, full-time, paid employment.

What you will learn

In the first two years of your degree, you will follow the Core Engineering Program and develop a broad foundation in engineering with courses in math, engineering, science and design. In your third year, you’ll immerse yourself in your chosen specialization.
