Periodontics (MPerio)
Train for the specialty practice of periodontics using an evidence-based approach.
Why choose this program?
Dalhousie's periodontics program is designed to train clinicians for the specialty practice of periodontics, using an evidence-based approach. We emphasize thoroughness of patient evaluation, accuracy in diagnosis and treatment planning, and evidence-based approaches to treatment.
The program involves a variety of clinical experiences to help you gain competence in the management of periodontal diseases and mucogingival defects, temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD), dental implant therapy, and conscious sedation. Completion of a research thesis is also a requirement for this degree.
Careers
Upon graduation, you will meet the requirements for certification and licensure as a dental specialist in periodontics in Canada and the United States and be qualified for academic educational positions. You will also be eligible to sit fellowship exams for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and the American Board of Periodontology Diplomate.
