Our MREM program is one of Canada’s longest running and most recognized Master of Resource and Environmental Management programs. The full-time, 16-month program combines coursework with real life experience including Canada’s only paid internship program during your first year. Admissions requirements overview

  • Four-year honours Bachelor's degree, equivalent or Bachelor's degree with evidence of independent research capacity.
    • Equivalencies that demonstrate independent research capability and may be considered include capstone projects, research internships, academic journal publications, independent study courses, and research work experience. 
    • Applicants should highlight these equivalencies in their CV and Statement of Interest when applying to the program.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (B average). Average successful applicant GPA is 3.3 (B+)
  • If your first language is not English - Proof of English language proficiency from a standard language test, such as TOEFL (minimum score of 102 for the internet-based test) or IELTS (7.5 minimum score).

Fees

MREM students pay fees per class. Fees are normally posted on Dal's Money Matters website by June for the following September.

  • Fees are paid per term, in September, January and May. 
  • Please note that a non-refundable admission deposit of $200 is required by all new students within four weeks after acceptance into the program. This will be applied against the tuition fee. Student Union dues, membership to the athletic facility (Dalplex), health/dental and other fees are included. 
  • Non-Canadian students pay a differential fee.
  • Tuition cost does not include books or other materials, transportation, meal, accommodations and other living costs.
  • An approximate figure of the cost for course materials (textbooks, etc.) is $800/year.
