Advancing equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility
Building bridges to equity and inclusion
To address historic wrongdoings, Dalhousie is taking decisive steps as part of Bringing Worlds Together to create a respectful, equitable and welcoming place for everyone. These actions include everything from public lectures about the experience and impacts of racism to partnering with underrepresented communities to deliver outreach programs.
Where reducing barriers meets improving equity-deserving communities
“There is a significant lack of representation of Black learners within medical schools and in turn, the Canadian medical workforce. Changing this starts with welcoming historically marginalized groups to medical school. It is an honour to lead the development of the Black Learners Admissions Pathway in the Faculty of Medicine. Representation matters, and it is lacking within the physician workforce in the Maritimes. I can’t wait to see that change and improve health outcomes for Black communities.” - Dr. Leah Jones
