Next steps for new students
Congratulations on confirming your acceptance and securing your seat in the first-year class at the Schulich School of Law starting in September 2025.
Below you will find information on what to expect leading up to September, including a number of resources that may be helpful in planning your transition to law school.
After confirming your acceptance
Once you have accepted your offer, your seat has been secured. There is no further action required of you at this time. The next step will be around registration.
Please note: If you are admitted to one of our combined degree programs, please let us know so that we can complete the necessary paperwork.
Academic & Student Services Office
During your time at law school the Academic & Student Services Office will be an important resource and source of support for you. They provide many services including academic advising, the Student Success Program and the Wellness@Weldon program.

Orientation
Orientation events and programming offers first year students the opportunity to socialize with each other, to learn some fundamentals of legal education, and to meet members of the law school and legal community. Orientation usually takes place during the first week of classes. Details about the timeline and specific events will be sent out in the summer by the orientation committee.
Housing
Dalhousie University is located in Halifax’s South End, which has many options for off-campus student housing. While there is living accommodations available on campus in our student residence halls, most law students live off-campus. You will have the opportunity to meet fellow law students via social media and orientation events before September if you wish to share off-campus accommodations.

Technical Requirements
The Schulich School of Law has implemented computerized examinations. Please check your computer specifications to ensure that it can run the exam software as tablets, chromebooks, and older versions of MacOS and Windows are not compatible.
