Admission Requirements
All students must have the equivalent of a four-year undergraduate university degree and meet the admission requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies as set out in Section II of the Graduate Calendar. Funding opportunities are available for certain programs, including some computer science specific opportunities.
Master's, thesis based (MCS)
Students who have an undergraduate degree in computer science, and a GPA of A- or better, may be accepted into the MCS program.
Master's, project based (MACS)
Students who have an undergraduate degree in computer science, and a GPA of B+ or better, may be accepted into the 1-year MACS program.
Students with an undergraduate or graduate degree in another discipline with a minimum GPA of B+, may be admitted into the 2-year MACS program.
If a student does not have the equivalent of CSCI1100 and CSCI1101, the student will be required to complete these courses at Dalhousie University or at another university with an A- average before admission into the program.
PhD
Students with a Masters degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline may apply for admission to the PhD program. A minimum GPA of A- is required.
PhD, Post Bachelor
This program is reserved for outstanding graduates of a four-year program with demonstrated research experience and/or excellent research potential.
GRE is recommended for international PhD applicants but not required.
However, meeting these requirements does NOT necessarily guarantee admission.
