Why Dal?

Having lived in Ottawa my entire life and having done my Bachelor of Music there, I felt it was time for a change in scenery and a change in mindset. I have always been in awe of the openness of the Maritime provinces. My path has always been one of certainty and staying in my comfort zone, but what better time to be adventurous than right now? Halifax drew me in because it is such a vibrant city and has a very active music scene. I have always been interested in the why and how of vocal performance and technique, so when I discovered the MA Musicology option at Dalhousie I was sold!

What Inspires Me?

Enthusiasm! I’ve found that everyone at Dal enjoys what they do, and that inspires me to work hard and be more enthusiastic about my work as well. I’ve always had a passion for opera and beautiful vocal music, so hearing performances and listening to recordings inspires me to find out what makes it so beautiful and how I can improve my own technique. Learning about the history of vocal music and how it became what it is today fascinates me.
