Why Dal?

I did my Bachelor of Music at Dalhousie; I liked it so much it took me 12 years to finish. Seriously though, the faculty and staff of the FSPA are great, and Halifax is a fantastic city for musicians.

What inspires me?

Humble musicians are very inspiring.  I look up to the folks that still find joy in playing music even if they’ve been paid peanuts their entire lives.

Awards, accomplishments, experience

• Chapter proposal accepted for a book on the Rolling Stones album Beggars Banquet, edited by Russ Reisling, (Ashgate, 2017).
• Attended George Jones’s funeral at the Opry House, Nashville
• Survived a few tours in a van full of gear, band members and peanut butter sandwiches
• Taught guitar and bartended for over a decade and I still have some patience left
• Singing country music and playing upright bass
