Admission requirements
Enrolment in the program is limited to approximately 45 full-time students per year.
General Admissions
Applicants must have completed a four (4) year bachelor’s degree. Applications for admission are accepted from all undergraduate backgrounds.
Competitive applicants will have attained at least an upper second class standing (B+ average) in their undergraduate degree.
International Students
Foreign applicants whose native tongue is not English must complete a TOEFL or IELTS test and achieve a score of 580 or better or 7.0 or better to meet the requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
Advance Credit for Bachelor of Management Students
A Dalhousie Bachelor of Management graduate may apply for advance credit. Any advance credit shall be determined by the MPA Graduate Coordinator.
GDPA (One-year MPA)
The student has GPA of 3.7 (A-) or higher over the four-year duration of the Dalhousie Bachelor of Management program.
The MPA Coordinator shall determine the required classes a student must take to satisfy the requirements of the one-year MPA program consisting of 4.5 full-credit courses.
Advanced Standing
If the student does not have a 3.7 GPA, but has completed classes relevant to the MPA program with A- grades or higher, they may be given some advanced standing on a case by case basis. Please contact the MPA Coordinator.
Approval of Admission
On the recommendation of the admissions committee, the Faculty of Graduate Studies approves all students for study in the program. Approval of admission is based on an assessment of a student’s previous academic work, professional experience and/or promise, letters of reference and a statement of intent.
