Why do MSC Medical Physics at Dal?

Dalhousie's CAMPEP (Commision on Accreditation of Medical Physics) acredited master's program in Medical Physics combines course and research work that builds critical knowledge in the field with hands-on training that prepares students for rewarding careers.

Courses in the program provide students with the medical physics foundations specified within the CAMPEP standards. All required coursework is completed in the first year and students focus on their thesis research in the second year.

MSc graduates may go on to pursue PhD degree programs, enter residency training programs in imaging or therapeutic medical physics, or enter the workforce directly.

Choosing a research supervisor

Students are encouraged to contact program faculty to select a supervisor and discuss options for thesis research.

Transfer from MSc to PhD

Graduate students have the option to transfer directly from an MSc to a PhD program. A student considering this change would submit the request to the Faculty of Graduate Studies prior to the end of the first year. Transfers require approval from the supervisor and supervisory committee.

Students making this change will have maintained an A- average over the first year of the MSc program.
