Aishwarya recently completed her Master of Arts in Health Promotion at Dalhousie University, NS. Her thesis aimed to explore how midwives working in Nova Scotia experience their work and the health implications of their working conditions, and to understand how midwives perceive their profession in Nova Scotia. Her thesis found that midwives in Nova Scotia experience both positive and challenging working conditions that can result in physical, mental, emotional, and social health implications for the midwives. Additionally, her study findings focus on some key supports midwives receive from the Nova Scotian healthcare system, as well as some system challenges that diminish their working experiences. Her findings also highlight some recommendations to improve midwives’ working conditions in Nova Scotia.

Research Interests

Aishwarya’s research interests include reproductive health, maternal health, and access to healthcare services. Currently, she is working as a Research Project Manager for the Resilience Research Centre, located at Dalhousie University. She has previously worked as the Administrative Assistant for the Wabanaki-Labrador Atlantic Indigenous Mentorship Network (led by Dr. Debbie Martin), the Program Assistant for Dalhousie University’s BIPOC Mentoring Academy, and as a Research Assistant for the Atlantic COAST Study (led by Dr. Lois Jackson).
