Applicants interested in pursuing scholarship support from NSERC, SSHRC or CIHR
As of the Fall of 2013, NSERC, SSHRC and CIHR have changed the way master’s-level graduate scholarships are administered. They are now evaluated entirely at the university to which you are applying. If you are offered one of these scholarships, it can only be used at the institution offering it.
If you are applying to the Master of Environmental Studies (MES) program and believe that you may be a competitive candidate for a tri-council scholarship (NSERC, SSHRC and CIHR), please contact our Academic Program Coordinator as early as possible to discuss your prospects. Also, talk to SRES faculty members you may want to work with to discuss your research interests.
Apply now
All applications for master’s scholarships can be submitted online through the online research portal.
Application deadline
The deadline for these scholarships is December 1, 2013. This is an online submission and the portal will close after the deadline, thus late applications CANNOT be submitted.
Incomplete applications
It is important to note that incomplete applications, improperly completed applications and applications that do not include official transcripts or other required supporting documentation will not be accepted for online submission nor will they be reviewed. Students will no longer be able to make revisions to their applications after the December 1 deadline.
Scholarship offer
After the deadline, all scholarship applications that identify Dalhousie University will be reviewed by the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS). FGS will forward all eligible applications to the relevant departments, which will rank the applications. First-round offers will go out around April 1 with a second round of offers approximately three weeks later.
