Resources & facilities
Find the resources you need
At Dalhousie, we place a heavy emphasis on research. To us, it just makes sense—after all, research is what drives progress in our fields. In the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, we support that focus by providing our graduate students and faculty with easy access to the wide range of facilities.
Proteomics & Mass Spectrometry Core Facility
These facilities include access to the Proteomics & Mass Spectrometry Core Facility providing analytical services to the Dalhousie community. Not only does this facility provide the instrumentation, resources and technical support needed for proteomic and metabolomic experiments, the staff will also arrange for sample delivery.
The facility features two high-quality liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) systems:
- a VelosPRO (Thermo Scientific) hybrid linear ion trap, high resolution orbitrap mass spectrometer
- a QTRAP® 5500 with SelexION ion mobility source, triple quadrupole/linear ion trap tandem mass spectrometer
Nuclear magnetic resonance centre
The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Resource (NMR-3) is a diverse NMR centre, phyically located in the Chemistry Building at Dalhousie University. We have outstanding staff of two PhD scientists and instrumentation for liquids and solids ranging from 300 MHz to 700 MHz.
CGEB - Integrated Microbial Resource (IMR)
The IMR is a sequencing and bioinformatic analysis resource that prepares, sequences and analyzes data from submitted samples.
