Grant Wach, Ph.D. is a Professor of Petroleum Geoscience. A specialist in Reservoir Characterization and Stratigraphy, his interest in complex oil reservoirs began at Syncrude, in the oil sands of Alberta. Prior to his work at Dalhousie, he was with Exxon and was Geoscience Research Associate at Texaco involved with exploration and commercialization around the globe.
Professor Wach is the Director of the Basin and Reservoir Lab within the Department of Earth Sciences at Dalhousie University. Applying his expertise in reservoir characterization and basin analysis, he has completed projects with diverse topics, including carbon capture and storage in Nova Scotia, investigation of hydraulic fracturing in the region, the potential of compressed air energy storage and the investigation of methane emissions from legacy oil and gas development sites in the Maritimes. Since 2018, Professor Wach has been working with the UNECE Energy Sustainability Committee.
