3x3 NELS Project
Toward the end of NELS ICE Project 1 on Surveillance, using linked administrative data, we created the 3x3 NELS study protocol [PDF] and data dictionary [PDF].
The 3x3 NELS objectives were to assess the administrative data quality and generate quality indicators for palliative and end of life care in Nova Scotia. Databases for this linkage study were provided by the Diabetes Care Program of Nova Scotia (DCPNS), the Cardiovascular Health Nova Scotia (CVHNS), the Surveillance and Epidemiology Unit (SEU) of Cancer Care Nova Scotia (CCNS), and palliative care programs (PCP) in three district health authorities (DHA): Colchester East Hants, Capital Health, and Cape Breton, all linked to the Nova Scotia Vital Statistics (NSVS). The 3x3 NELS study subjects are all Nova Scotia residents who died in Nova Scotia from 1995 to 2009.
