Dr. Rick Gibson is a practicing Family Physician and Chief of the Central Zone Department of Family Practice, Nova Scotia Health Authority.
Over the past 20 years, Rick has held numerous physician leadership positions in the Nova Scotia Health Authority. In his current role, Dr. Gibson strives to unify 400+ community family physicians, some having had relationships with the various hospitals throughout the district, and some having had no formal relationship with the Health Authority. The Department bridges the continuum of care from the community through the hospital and into nursing homes, working collaboratively with many departments (such as Public Health) and organizations, such as nursing homes, on a wide range of initiatives.
Rick is an EXTRA Fellow, graduating August 2012. He received the Canadian Certified Physician Executive designation in 2013 and the Certified Health Executive designation in 2016.
