Difficult Discussions in Global Politics: A Conversation about Discourse and Dialogue in Times of Conflict.

The Centre for the Study of Security and Development is pleased to present, "Difficult Discussions in Global Politics: a conversation about discourse and dialogue in times of conflict". This panel event features three experts in seemingly intractable conflicts discussing their approaches to teaching, studying, and debating their work. The event will be moderated by the Director of the Centre for Security and Development, Dr. Leah Sarson.

Bridget Brownlow (St. Mary’s University) is a certified conflict resolution specialist and has spent over twenty years facilitating a wide range of peacebuilding initiatives in Northern Ireland and working with former IRA and Loyalist ex-combatants. She is the director of International Experiential Learning with Peaceful Schools International and teaches courses in peace and conflict studies.
Dr. Daphna Levit (St. Mary’s University) is the author of Wrestling with Zionism (2020) and many other publications on the Middle East. Dr. Levit’s teaching includes courses on the history of Zionism and Japanese history and film.
Dr. Catherine Baillie Abidi (Mount St. Vincent University) researches, publishes, and teaches in the areas of peace and conflict, children affected by armed violence, and international humanitarian law. Dr. Baillie Abidi chairs the Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace and Security international research network focused on children, peace and security.
