Mi'kmaq History Month and Treaty Day

Today is the start of Mi'kmaq History Month, a time of year that offers all of us an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the historic presence of the Mi’kmaq, the L’nuk, whose unceded territory we live on and who have lived here for over 14,000 years. Today is also Treaty Day in Nova Scotia, which commemorates the key role of treaties between Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq and the Crown.

Learn more about Mi'kmaq History Month and Treaty Day. The Human Rights and Equity Services webpage is being updated regularly with community events for this month, and look for more coverage and articles in Dal News in the days and weeks ahead.
