Commuter challenge this week

Posted by Office of Sustainability on June 3, 2024 in General Announcements

The Commuter Challenge is beginning this week! In support of Canadian Environment Week, Dalhousie University is proud to participate in the 2024 Commuter Challenge, which will run from June 2 to 8, 2024. It is open to all students, staff, and faculty. If participating in the challenge, you can begin to log your commutes Sunday, June 2.

Methods of transportation that are eligible for points include: walking, cycling, carpooling, or using public transit! If you use multiple modes of transportation on your commute (bike to bus station, walk to carpool, etc.), you can include that in your log. The person with the most points will win $25 in DalCash.

Register for the callenge now

Please pick the correct designation ‘staff’, ‘student’, or ‘faculty’ for your location.

How It Works:

  • You must take at least one sustainable commute throughout the week to be included in the results
  • Use this link to log your results.
  • As you progress through the week, you will see how your commute affects the environment. Impacts tracked include:
    • Reduced Emissions
    • Consumption of calories
    • Savings in fuel and distance travelled

The deadline for registration and logging is Saturday, June 16, 2024.

We look forward to taking part in the challenge with you!
