Call for supervisors for DISP winter research projects

Posted by Faculty of Science on October 25, 2023 in General Announcements

Each year, the Dalhousie Integrated Science Program (DISP) educates a cohort of eager first-year science students. With the cooperation of Dal's research community, the program provides students with a unique opportunity to engage in research during their first year of study.

DISP is seeking host labs to supervise 9 to10-week (3 hours per week) winter term research projects for groups of 1 to 4 DISP students. Projects can be supervised by faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, or graduate students, and can address a new question or a component of an existing project. Faculty may benefit from extra assistance with lab projects and the opportunity to recruit exceptional students to their lab, and graduate student researchers can gain supervisory and training experience along with assistance on their research projects. Previous DISP research projects have led to impactful science, peer-reviewed publications, and longer-term recruitment of students into research labs.

Interested supervisors are asked to please complete this short expression of interest form by Friday, November 3. If you have any questions or would like to discuss further, please contact Kerrianne Ryan (kerri.ryan@dal.ca).
