Congratulations to Mateo Yorke and Maryanne (Barkley) Yorke who were married on campus on Saturday, August 5th. Mateo and Maryanne have both worked on campus for many years and currently serve as Assistant Directors of Facilities. Their relationship deepened through the years, especially through the pandemic lockdown, as they met the challenges of managing the residences.
When they decided to get married, they looked for someone with a marriage license. There on the other side of the street from Mateo's office in Risley Hall was Rev. Robyn Brown-Hewitt, in the Dal Multifaith Services office, located in the LeMarchant Building. Robyn is the Campus Minister for the United Church of Canada. The location they chose for the ceremony was one they certainly know very well — Shirreff Hall. It was a beautiful day and a deeply meaningful ceremony, with close family members gathered around to celebrate. All the best to the newlyweds!
