Reminder: 2023 Rosemary Gill Award ‑ Call for Nominations

Posted by Office of the Vice-Provost, Student Affairs on January 3, 2023 in General Announcements

The Rosemary Gill Award was established in 1995 in memory of Dr. Rosemary Gill, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University and Director of Student Health Services from 1985 to 1991.  Dr. Gill exemplified a high level of commitment to service to students, both in terms of her responsibilities as a physician on campus, and as a member of the Student Services staff and the larger University community.

The Rosemary Gill Award is presented annually to a member of the faculty or staff of the University who has provided outstanding service, other than teaching, to students.  Up to four awards can be made each year.  The first award was made in the fall, 1995.  An individual may receive the Rosemary Gill Award one time.

Recipients are selected by a committee consisting of the President; the Vice-Provost, Student Affairs; a member of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee of the Board of Governors; and a student appointed by the Dalhousie Student Union.  The University community is invited to submit nominations, in writing, but the selection committee is also free to identify candidates itself.

The Rosemary Gill Award is a plaque presented to the recipient at a reception hosted by the President.  In addition, a permanent plaque bearing the names of annual recipients is displayed in the Henry Hicks Academic Administration Building.

Nominations are now being sought for awards to be presented in 2023.  To submit a 2023 Rosemary Gill Award nomination, please visit:  dal.ca/rosemarygillaward
