Why does Dalhousie have a records management policy?

Posted by Dalhousie Libraries on April 13, 2022 in General Announcements

At Dalhousie, we create and receive a lot of information, so it’s essential that we know how to best manage this information. We must ensure we’re meeting regulatory and legal requirements and adhering to national and international standards while also preserving our rich history. Fortunately, we have a records management policy that outlines the structure for effective records management at Dalhousie.

Dalhousie’s Records Management Office invites you to learn about records management as we celebrate Records & Information Management Month. Throughout April, we’ll share a new video each week.

Below, you'll find the second video, which introduces Dalhousie’s records management policy.

Topics to be covered in future weeks include:

  • Dalhousie’s Records Management Office

  • The risks and benefits associated with retaining records.

Records management is a university-wide service provided by the Dalhousie Libraries. Questions about records management? Attend a workshop offered by the Records Management Office or contact us at dalrm@dal.ca.
