The Roy A. Jodrey Chair was established at Dalhousie University in 1969.  The Chair was established by Roy A. Jodrey, who founded Nova Scotia Power companies and the Minas Basin Pulp & Paper Company and built a financial empire. Jodrey came from humble Maritime roots but was determined to teach himself the basics of business. He was known for his grit, determination, and vision. He is remembered for his outstanding and generous contribution to the economic prosperity of Nova Scotia.

We are pleased to be recruiting for our next Roy A. Jodrey Chair. We welcome all qualified candidates to submit their applications. The Chair will hold or be given their regular tenure track/tenured appointment at the initial rank of Associate Professor or Professor (dependent upon qualifications and experience) and will commence July 1, 2022 (negotiable). The Chair position will initially be for a five-year term and renewable subject to the terms of the Chair. The successful applicant will be expected to serve as an intellectual leader and to advance interdisciplinary scholarship related to business and society. The successful applicant is also expected to have a robust research track record and an ambitious research agenda. They will be committed to the success of the Faculty’s programs and students, and eager to contribute to the intellectual life of the Faculty. As the chair holder, the successful applicant receives a research stipend as well as a teaching reduction during the term of this Chair.

Required qualifications:

• PhD from an accredited program in a relevant discipline
• An exceptional record of scholarly activity commensurate with their career stage
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness and experience
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate and to foster safer spaces for equity-deserving groups
• Demonstrated capacity to make a significant contribution to the Rowe School of Business and the Faculty of Management

Preference will be given to candidates whose focus in the fields of business and society bridges the conventional boundaries of commerce and business administration and who is likely to contribute to more than one of our seven area groups: accounting, finance, TIME (technology, innovation management and entrepreneurship), supply chain and decision sciences, marketing, management, and strategy. • Research Profile and Agenda (maximum two (2) pages, summarizing your major research accomplishments and describing your five-year research plan)
• Teaching Statement (maximum two (2) pages, summarizing your teaching philosophy, effectiveness, and interests)
• Dossier of evidence of teaching effectiveness and experience such as teaching evaluations, letters from colleagues or students, and/or research related to the scholarship of teaching and learning may be provided
• Equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility and decolonization statement (Upload as “Portfolio.”) (maximum two (2) pages, reflective of your perspectives on broadening engagement, interrogating bias, integrating critical perspectives and pedagogies, and engaging collaborative and inclusively with colleagues and students)
• List of references: Names and contact information of three (3) persons. Reference letters are not required at this stage
