The Department of Medical Neuroscience in the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University invites applications for a probationary tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.  

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent, a minimum of three years post-doctoral training in biomedical sciences, and an excellent research record. The candidate will be expected to compete for external research/salary support, supervise graduate students and contribute to the teaching activities of the Department.  

Candidates will have demonstrated the potential to obtain Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) funding and to develop an internationally-recognized basic science research program with a focus on mechanisms underlying the neural circuitry affected by neurological disorders, or injury, using relevant model systems. We are seeking candidates that use state-of-the-art techniques in neuroscience such as advanced genetics, molecular/cellular biology, and modern imaging techniques. The candidate's research topic must be complementary to the existing research in the Department of Medical Neuroscience at Dalhousie University that includes motor systems, neural development, sleep, autonomic biology, vision, neurodegeneration, and brain injury. 

The candidate will join a dynamic group of neuroscientists within the Brain Repair Centre (www.brainrepair.ca ) studying the development and function of the nervous system. Outstanding core facilities available include: a Zebrafish Facility, Cellular and Molecular Digital Imaging, Proteomics, Maritime Brain Tissue Bank, Gene Analysis, Flow Cytometry, and a Small Animal Behaviour Facility.
