Planned power outage affecting the Chemistry Building

Posted by Facilities Management on February 4, 2021 in Facilities Management

The Chemistry Building will lose complete power for the duration of the outage which will affect the fume hoods so Chemistry and MacDonald Buildings will be locked and nobody (with the exception of the electricians working in the vault) will be permitted to enter the building until the work is done and an air clearance test is performed.

Facilities Management and Chemistry Administration has determined that the following date and time will enable the maintenance and cause the least disruption to campus activities:

De-energize at 7am on Munro Day, Friday, February 5th

Re-energize when complete (estimate Saturday, February 6th in the afternoon)

All-Tech Environmental will perform the air quality test about 2 hours after the power has been restored and people will be permitted back into the building once the tests results arrive back clear and security has been notified.

Backup generators may be available on a case-by-case basis if you have special emergency power needs.
