Researchers at Dalhousie University are looking for children to participate in a study. Maybe you can help? If your child is 5-8 years of age, communicates only in English (note: core French and early French Immersion is permissible), and has no known cognitive difficulties then we would love to hear from you!
The goal of the study is to investigate how hand gestures may help children with language learning difficulties learn new words. Participation is voluntary and involves one 60-minute session* to do language, thinking, and word-learning tasks. These sessions will be videotaped. A parent/legal guardian will need to fill out a short questionnaire and sign a consent form. As a thank-you, your child will receive a certificate of participation!
If you are interested, or know someone who might be interested, please email for more information at k.boyce@dal.ca
*Please note that due to COVID-19, this study has been moved to an online platform (i.e. Zoom).
