Dalhousie's Workplace Wellness Grants Program was created to fund projects that promote workplace wellness for faculty and staff through new initiatives or through enhancements to existing initiatives. Twelve applications were funded for 2020-2021, for a total of $25,000 in funding.
The successful applications were:
Office of Advancement: Enhancements to office space to create an inspiring and functional office environment
Departments of Biology and Earth & Environmental Science: Phase 2 - guided walks to connect all employees to the urban natural environment
Black Faculty and Staff Caucus: Addressing topics that impact the health and well-being of Black faculty and staff
Centre for Collaborative Clinical Learning and Research: Phase 2 - capitalize on terrace space in the CHEB for gardening and individual and group activities
Communications and Marketing: Team engagement in a series of health and wellness activities
Faculty of Dentistry: Launch of Appreciation Awards
Faculty of Health: Supporting health, fitness and fun for a softball team and its supporters
School of Health and Human Performance: 1) Encouraging faculty and staff to take a break outdoors together to encourage mental wellness and School spirit, 2) Supporting the Retirement Transition through learning and coaching
Registrar's Office: Adoption and tracking of a mindfulness app
Security Services/Occupational Therapy: Phase 2 - OT students develop a tailored approach to support employees on shift work
University Libraries: Equipment and initiatives that support wellness while working
NOTE: These projects will be delayed in starting due to the university's efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
