Dalhousie is building a three-storey addition to the Seymour Street side of the Dalhousie Arts Centre, with an anticipated completion of fall 2021. This work will involve construction noise throughout the project. The main activity between now and March 2020 will be preparing the foundation. This will involve intermittent rockbreaking and instances of localized blasting.
Activities in the immediate future include:
- Intermittent rock breaking
- Increased truck and heavy machinery traffic to and from the site
- Noise from heavy machinery including idling and backup beepers (please note that beeper warnings cannot be lowered or turned off due to legislation from the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education)
- Sidewalk closures on the east side of Seymour Street
- Potential short term road closures for equipment delivery
