WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic will take responsibility for the teaching and grading of THEA 1450.06XY: Introduction to Costume Studies for the 2019/20 academic year (September 1, 2019 to April 30, 2020). Duties will include preparation of lectures and technical demonstrations, course materials and assignments, and the evaluation of students’ work. The successful candidate will work in consultation and coordination with the full-time faculty and supervise the work of one teaching assistant. This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: MA or MFA in Theatre, Costume Studies, or related discipline.  Candidates with a BA or BFA in Theatre, Costume Studies or related discipline and substantial professional experience in clothing construction in general will be considered.  Experience of teaching at the university level, with documented evidence of teaching ability, is an asset.

POSITION: Part-Time Academic - THEA 2820.06XY: Dance and Movement II (September 1, 2019 – April 30, 2020)

WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic will be fully responsible for the teaching and grading of THEA 2820.06XY: Dance and Movement II, from September 1, 2019 to April 30, 2020. This course is a requirement for students enrolled in the Honors BA in Theatre (Acting Program) and is a practical, physical, studio exploration into movement and dance techniques.  Emphasis is on time, space, energy, correct body alignment and safe practices, with attention to the development of personal expression through the mediums of movement and dance, as well as on the development of practical skills in preparation for a career in the professional theatre.  The instructor is required to provide a Course Outline (including Method of Assessment) after consulting with full-time Acting Program faculty.  As well, the instructor is required to prepare and grade all assignments, and to calculate final marks in time for student interviews that take place at the end of each term.  Final marks must then be submitted online. This position works in collaboration with full-time Acting Program faculty and reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
The qualifications required for this position include:
(1) specialization in the training of actors (especially movement for the stage and character development);
(2) ability to instruct students with diverse dance-training backgrounds, new movers, and broad levels of musicality, dexterity, and coordination;
(3)  teaching experience in movement for actors and various dance genres at the post-secondary level;  
(4)  experience coaching and choreographing for professional actors;
(5)  professional performance experience in dance, movement, and theatre; and
(6)  evidence of strong teaching effectiveness.

It may also involve organization and coordination of guest lectures, masterclasses and seminars over the course of the class.
