Participate for a chance to win a $500 Pre‑Paid Visa!

Posted by Psychology & Neuroscience on May 2, 2019 in General Announcements

The Early Social Development Lab is currently looking for 2-year-old children, and their parent/guardians, to participate in a study on the development of moral beliefs. To participate in this study, children must be typically developing. Both children and parent/guardians must be fluent in English.

In this study your child will watch multiple videos of two puppets doing different actions, one that breaks a moral principle and one that does not (e.g., hitting another puppet vs. hugging another puppet). They will then answer questions about these videos. If your child is 4 years old, they may also complete a computer task. During this task, they will watch a series of short vignettes about other children breaking some sort of moral principle (e.g., care for others, respect for authority) and answer questions about it. Finally, we may also ask you to complete a brief survey for parent/guardians while your child is doing these tasks.

This study involves one 1 hour-long visit to the Early Social Development Lab at Dalhousie University. I have included the available dates and times below. We have reserved parking for families visiting the ESDL and children will receive a certificate and small toy as a thank-you for coming in. Parent/guardians will also be entered into a draw to win a $500 pre-paid Visa for participating.

If you are interested in participating please email us at esdl@dal.ca and let us know what 1 hour slot works best for you and your family. If the availability provided does not work, please let us know a date/time that is more convenient for you and your family and we will try our best to accommodate your request!
