WORK ASSIGNMENT:  This Part-Time Academic will take
responsibility for the teaching and grading of THEA 1450XY: Introduction to
Costume Studies for the 2018/19 academic year (September 1, 2018 to April 30,
2019). Duties will include preparation of lectures and technical
demonstrations, course materials and assignments, and the evaluation of
students’ work. The successful candidate will work in consultation and
coordination with the full-time faculty and supervise the work of one teaching
assistant. This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of
Performing Arts.

 

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:   MA or MFA in Theatre, Costume Studies, or
related discipline.  Candidates with a BA
or BFA in Theatre, Costume Studies or related discipline and substantial
professional experience in clothing construction in general will be considered.  Experience of teaching at the university
level, with documented evidence of teaching ability, is an asset.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:   1) MA, MFA, or equivalent;

Candidates should be trained as specialists in Voice and Speech;

                                                                3)
teaching experience at the postsecondary level, with evidence of effective
teaching ability;

professional experience as an actor and/or coach; and

and dialects and text analysis.

WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic
will be responsible for teaching a module on movement for actors as a part of
THEA 4840XY: Advanced Performance Techniques class from September 1, 2018 to
April 30, 2019. The instructor will be responsible to prepare and grade all
assignments in this module. This is an hourly paid teaching position for a
maximum of 32 hours in an academic year. This course is an integral part of the
Acting Program and comes at the end of a three-year cycle. This position
reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

 

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: BA or BFA,
plus specialization in teaching creative and period movement to actors in a classical
actor training program. Evidence of strong teaching effectiveness is essential,
as is professional performance experience. Familiarity with Dalhousie
University Acting Program is considered an asset.

WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic
will be responsible for teaching a module on Stage Management in 3 classes,
THEA1051/1052, THEA2060/2070, THEA3060/3070, from September 1, 2018 to April
30, 2019. The instructor works closely with the student stage management team,
Fountain School of Performing Arts (FSPA) faculty and staff during rehearsals
and the run of the FSPA main stage productions (supervising, checking and
maintain proper professional CAEA standards and practices, as well as marking
student work). This is an hourly paid teaching position for a maximum of 150
hours in an academic year. This position reports to the Director of the
Fountain School of Performing Arts.

 

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: BA in
Technical Theatre or equivalent, with professional accreditation in the area of
expertise. Membership in the Canadian Actors Equity Association considered an
asset.

WORK ASSIGNMENT:  This Part-Time Academic will take
responsibility for the teaching and grading of FILM 2350 Studies in Film
Directors, from September 1 to December 31, 2018. FILM 2350 introduces students
to Film Studies and the idea of the auteur by surveying the careers of one or
two significant film directors. In their cover letter, applicants should name
the director(s) they would choose, and include a brief justification of why a
study of their career(s) would serve the course well. Duties will include
preparation of lectures, course materials and assignments and the evaluation of
students’ work. This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of
Performing Arts.

 

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:   Applicants should have an M.A. in Film
Studies, Media Studies, or a related discipline. Previous experience teaching
film studies or related subjects at a university level and evidence of strong
teaching effectiveness will be considered an asset.
