1) Lecturer for NURS2720.03 – Health & Healing I: Pathophysiology and Therapeutics (Fall term of the academic year 2017-2018)
Students are introduced to the fundamentals of health and disease patterns, the role of genetics, developmental biology and environment are explored. Cellular mechanisms, inflammatory and infectious responses and cellular biology of cancer are investigated. Diagnosis and therapeutic concepts including preventive therapies and pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions with consideration of age and cultural variations are introduced.
This is a 3 credit hour course. Lectures of 1.5 hours are held twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1205 – 1325; and 1-hour tutorials are held once/week on Thursdays from 1335-1425. Lectures and tutorials run from September 5, 2017 until November 30, 2017. This contract runs from September 1, 2017 through December 22, 2017. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies.
2) Lecturer for NURS3330.03 – Fundamentals of Oncology Nursing (Fall term of the academic year 2017-2018)
This nursing elective provides an introduction to oncology nursing. Beginning with a review of the physiology of the cancer cycle, the course considers cancer control related to: prevention, screening, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, supportive care/rehabilitation, palliative care. The focus of the course is to provide an opportunity for students to understand the cancer experience from the perspective of the patients and their families.
This is a 3 credit hour course consisting of 2 lecture hours per week on Mondays, 1135 – 1325, from September 5, 2017 until November 30, 2017. This contract runs from September 1, 2017 through December 22, 2017. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies.
3) Lecturer for NURS3730.06 – Nursing in the Context of Persistent Illness: Prevention and Recovery (Fall term of the academic year 2017-2018)
Using nursing and other theoretical frameworks, students focus on clients/families living with chronic and life altering diseases across the life course. Students use the nursing process, relational practice, critical inquiry and evidence to apply principles of disease management and advanced communication with a person-centred, interprofessional approach.
This is a 6 credit hour course. Lectures of 2 hours are held three times a week on Mondays and Wednesdays 1535 – 1725 and Fridays, 1235 - 1425; a tutorial of 1-hour per week is held on Fridays from 1435-1525. Lectures and tutorials run from September 5, 2017 until November 30, 2017. This contract runs from September 1, 2017 through December 22, 2017. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Development of teaching and learning activities related to course-specific topics (e.g., pharmacology, chronic illness, cancer)
· Co-teach course content
· Assessment and evaluation of student learning
· Use of Bright space for course delivery
· Responding to student queries about coursework in collaboration with the other co-teacher
· Attending initial instruction with Instructional Learning Online services re: Brightspace
· Participation in course discussions within the program
· Develop and administer examinations
· Submission of grades
· Follow up with students as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Candidates must hold a graduate degree in Nursing, or related field, with relevant expertise and teaching experience. PhD preferred.

1) Lecturer for NURS2750.03 – Health & Healing II: Pathophysiology and Therapeutics (Winter term of the academic year 2017-2018)
Students will be introduced into integrating knowledge of disease, diagnosis and person-centred management as a key to successful nursing practice. Specific disease processes related to body systems are described and mechanisms of therapeutic options for management are evaluated. Evidence to support use of pharmacological, non-pharmacological, alternative and complementary treatments is evaluated.
This is a 3 credit hour course consisting of 1.5-hour lecture hours twice per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1205 – 1325 and 1-hour tutorials on Thursdays from 1335-1425, from January 8, 2018 until March 16, 2018; with the final exam during the week of March 26, 2018. This contract runs from January 1, 2018 through April 30, 2018. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies.
2) Lecturer for NURS4715.06 – Exploratory Nursing Practice (Winter term of the academic year 2017-2018)
Students engage in a broad range of clinical, research or theoretical activities under the direction of faculty or clinical preceptor/facilitator to complete a project relevant to nursing practice. These learning experiences will assist the student to understand the complexity of the integrated nursing role across a range of settings.
This is a 6 credit hour course consisting of lab/simulation on Fridays, 0835 – 1425, from January 8, 2018 until March 2, 2018 with a 4-week clinical block March/April 6, 2018; with the final exam during the week of March 26, 2018. This contract runs from January 1, 2018 through April 30, 2018. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies.
3) Lecturer for NURS4720.03 – Professional Formation: Nursing and Social Responsibility (Winter term of the academic year 2017-2018)
Students collaborate with and across professions, theoretical frameworks are critiques and applied to again insight into the nursing role that influences policies and practices in health care. Evaluation of the processes that influence and support change, as well as system inertia, will assist in developing strategies to improve health for society.
This is a 3 credit hour course consisting of 3 lecture hours per week on Thursdays, 1135 – 1425, from January 8, 2018 until March 2, 2018; with the final exam during the week of March 26, 2018. This contract runs from January 1, 2018 through April 30, 2018. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies.
