Limited Term Position

Applications are invited for one Limited Term Position at the Instructor level in the School of Occupational Therapy starting July 1, 2017 (pending budgetary approval). This is an academic position that encompasses teaching and administration. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a fixed term position of one year with no expectation for renewal.

The Instructor would be responsible for developing courses related to neuroscience, neurological conditions, neurorehabilitation, physical rehabilitation and disability. S/he will also contribute to teaching and / or coordination and evaluation of student performance in up to 6-8 courses. Contribute to teaching in three of the four School semesters. S/he would contribute to the fieldwork team courses and supervision, as well as assist with student assessment, particularly during presentations, simulated client exams and practical demonstrations. S/he would be responsible for development of cases and implementation of teaching/learning resources in the simulation as well as participation in the Electronic Assessment Library and other events. The Instructor would participate in interprofessional health education (IPHE) activities, teaching, learning and evaluation.  S/he would contribute to the scholarly and administrative duties in the School of Occupational Therapy and Faculty of Health Professions. Supervision of master’s level student practice or research projects may be required.

S/he must hold a Master’s degree. A Phd or Ed.D is preferred. S/he must hold an entry- to-practice qualification in occupational therapy. Eligibility for licensure with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia is essential. The instructor requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in supervision of occupational therapy fieldwork students. Highly desirable to have familiarity with occupational therapy education and accreditation requirements; experience as a tutor or clinical instructor; be willing to establish/maintain involvement in scholarly/professional activities; and be dedicated to excellence and innovation in curriculum delivery. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching and have a minimum of three years of professional practice teaching experience. Familiarity with curriculum development and online teaching technology and simulation are highly desirable. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
