POSITION: Part-Time Academic - THEA 2020.06 Jazz Dance I, May 8 – June 23, 2017

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Fountain School of Performing Arts

PAY RATE: As per CUPE Collective Agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic will be fully responsible for the teaching and grading of one section of THEA 2020.06 Jazz Dance I, from May 8 to June 23, 2017. This course is a practical exploration into the jazz dance techniques, incorporating the use of space, rhythm, and correct body alignment. Emphasis is on the development of personal expression through the medium of dance. Students are expected to develop an awareness of dance terminology and vocabulary. The instructor is required to provide a Method of Assessment and course outline and to announce end of term student ratings/evaluations of instruction. 
This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts. 

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: The qualifications required for this position include: (1) specialization in jazz dance and stage dance movement, preferably in Luigi-style jazz-dance technique; (2) ability to instruct mature students with diverse dance-training backgrounds and broad levels of musicality, dexterity, and coordination; and (3) teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
