POSITION: Front of House Staff (casual/hourly paid)

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Fountain School of Performing Arts, Dalhousie Arts Centre, 6101 University Avenue, Halifax

PAY RATE: $11.00 per hour

WORK ASSIGNMENT: Front of House Staff responsibilities are:
− To coordinate and collaborate with FoH staff, crews, clients, and others to ensure the safety and comfort of guests at all times.
− To greet guests; respond to inquiries about the school, the show, the Dalhousie Arts Centre, and beyond; respond to concerns, and report serious concerns to the FoH Manager.
− To assist with the set-up and strike of chairs, tables, and other equipment as required.
− To check tickets for the correct date and time; redirect guests if required; collect ticket stubs.
− To distribute programmes and other materials as required.
− To reserve, find, and otherwise facilitate seating of guests as required; sometimes in low light.
− To keep theatres and front of house areas clean and clutter-free.
− To complete other duties as required.
− To attend training as required.
This is a casual position, required most often on nights and weekends. FoH staff are scheduled as-needed, at the discretion of the FoH Manager. There is no guarantee of work. This position reports to the Front of House Manager, Fountain School of Performing Arts. 

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: The ideal candidate will be a student or graduate of the Fountain School of Performing Arts who is self-motivated, with the ability to multitask and maintain a professional, positive, and patient attitude. Preference will be given to those with frontline and customer service experience, Emergency First Aid and CPR certification, and those with working knowledge of English and French. FOH staff are the face of the Fountain School of Performing Arts, and as such are required to embrace a statement of principles and values, and, in lieu of a uniform, a black-and-white dress code.
