36-month, 80% Limited Term Instructor

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Dalhousie University invites applications for a 36-month (limited term, 80%) position as Instructor in our CPA Accredited Clinical Psychology Program within the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Dalhousie University. The position is available beginning June 1, 2017. Candidates should have a PhD in Psychology, should be a fully registered clinical psychologist in the province of Nova Scotia or be eligible for registration. The ideal candidate would have experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as experience in clinical supervision.

He/she will teach six classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels, with the possibility of a 1-course reduction depending on administrative responsibilities and supervisory load associated with undergraduate and graduate student research projects.

Although research is not a required component of this position, in keeping with the nature of the Psychology and Neuroscience Department, we will support the applicant in developing or continuing to develop their research program.

Limited-term Instructor

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Dalhousie University invites applications for a 24-month 70% Limited-Term Instructor position commencing
August 1, 2017. The instructor will be responsible for teaching two or three sections of a third-year Neuroscience lab class in addition to one or two classes in our Neuroscience program.

The Instructor will be responsible for all lectures, for supervising lab sessions, for test preparation, and for exam administration and evaluation (including supplemental examinations) and will also be available for at least two hours per week for student consultation.

Student project supervision and engagement in departmental administration throughout the full year is also expected.

The laboratory class requires experience and proficiency in some or all of the following methods: confocal microscopy, immunocytochemistry, high-performance liquid chromatography, visualization of neurotransmitter systems, and electron microscopy of neurons and synapses. In accordance with previous years, the class will most likely make use of preparations from vertebrate retinas and insect brains.

Applicants should have a PhD in Neuro- or Biological Sciences, demonstrated teaching effectiveness, and previous experience teaching this or very similar material. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
