Home for Dinner on Giving Tuesday

Posted by Conference Services on December 1, 2016 in General Announcements

For a second year, Dalhousie University’s Conference Services team leant their support to Ronald McDonald House Charities Atlantic through their Home for Dinner program.

With the hustle and bustle of Black Friday sales and promotions, it can be easy to lose site of the spirit of the holiday season. That’s why Conference Services, for a second consecutive year, has partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities Atlantic to provide a home cooked meal for 30, all in recognition of GivingTuesday – a day where charities, companies and individuals join together to share in philanthropy, rally for favourite causes and think about others.

In collaboration with Dalhousie University Food Services (Halifax), the Conference Services team visited the IWK Health Centre’s Family Room with a feel-good meal that included spinach and raspberry salad, baked chicken pot pie, roasted seasonal vegetables and a delicious assortment of holiday sweets.

GivingTuesday, a global day of generosity, continues to gain traction across the country in its fourth year, with thousands of partner organizations and millions of Canadians expected to take part. Since 2013, GivingTuesday has united millions of Canadians to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.

In addition to a hearty home cooked meal, a large number of wish list items donated by Dalhousie Ancillary Services staff were delivered to the Ronald McDonald House in Halifax. These items ranged from chocolate chips for baking to art supplies for children staying in the House.
