A virtual private network (VPN) can provide you with secure, authenticated remote access to Dalhousie networks, resources, and services from remote locations. The benefits of installing and using a VPN client are as follows:
· Dal’s campus VPN service allows you to access campus resources securely and seamlessly, as if you are on campus.
· The VPN protects your data. Your data is encrypted, meaning it is illegible in transit. University employees should always use a VPN when using devices to access sensitive and private information outside the University network.
· The VPN provides an additional layer of security and privacy when using public wireless services in airports, coffee shops and elsewhere.
For more tips, information, and details please visit the Information Security area on the ITS web site and the "What is VPN" page on details on how to install and use VPN.
