Demolition begins on Dalhousie's Sexton Campus — parking will be affected

Posted by Facilities Management on September 16, 2016 in Facilities Management

Dalhousie’s Department of Capital Construction will be putting up a construction fence on Saturday, September 17, 2016 around two properties at 5265 and 5267 Morris Street. These properties are being demolished to make way for future development on our Sexton Campus.

The fencing will impact a number of parking spots from multiple parking lots on Sexton Campus. In anticipation of this planned future development, Dalhousie made the 200-spot Rosina parking lot available in 2015. In September, 40 of those spots became Pay and Display to meet a growing need for short term parking on our campuses. Even with this upcoming change, Sexton Campus will have a net parking gain of 100 parking spots.

A map for all parking areas can be found on the Security website at Dal.ca/parking

As it does every year, Dalhousie administration thoroughly studied the parking situation on all campuses including Sexton. You can learn more in this Dal News story which outlines this year’s parking situation on all campuses. General parking permits do not guarantee a parking place. Refunds on parking permits are available on a pro-rated basis.

And a reminder — those with general permits who choose to park in the Pay and Display part of Rosina MUST still have proof of payment displayed in their window, or they may be ticketed.

We thank you for your continued patience and understanding. More information on development on Sexton Campus will be available in the months to come.
