Serving Maritime Canada, the Faculty of Medicine enables excellence in health care through education and research programs in partnership with government, health authorities and health care providers. The Global Health Office takes a collaborative approach to build leadership within the Dalhousie community to advance diversity, equity, community engagement, global health education and international partnerships.

Reporting to the Director (Global Health), the incumbent will provide leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Indigenous programs in the Faculty of Medicine as well as support the implementation of the diversity strategy. The Manager plays a role in contributing to several undergraduate medical education accreditation standards and supporting the Faculty to respond to the recommendations in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Report and Calls to Action.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in implementation of Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report’s Calls to Action specific to Medicine
- Work with the Faculty of Medicine Indigenous Health Advisory Committee to develop and implement strategies to attract Indigenous students to the Faculty of Medicine
- Provide assistance to prospective Medical students on admissions requirements, and provide information or referrals to appropriate services and resources both on and off campus
- Collaborate with Faculty to develop communications, training materials, and workshops to educate the Faculty of Medicine on diversity to promote inclusiveness in the working and learning environment
- Develop a communication plan in support of Indigenous Medicine programs

Qualifications: The successful applicant will have an undergraduate degree (graduate degree preferred) in a relevant field and experience working with Aboriginal students and Aboriginal communities. Demonstrated experience working with students in post-secondary institution and in a cross-cultural environment. Excellent communications skills, problem-solving skills, proactive and ability to work independently are essential. Experience in program monitoring and evaluation would be considered an asset.

Salary Range: $49,498-$66,968 per annum (ADM-05). This position is part of the Dalhousie Professional & Managerial Group (DPMG). This is a provisional classification. Formal classification procedures will be initiated by the Compensation & Job Evaluation Unit in approximately six months.
