1)      Lecturer for NURS2720.03 – Health & Healing I: Pathophysiology and Therapeutics (Fall term of the academic year 2016-2017)

Students are introduced to the fundamentals of health and disease patterns, the role of genetics, developmental biology and environment are explored. Cellular mechanisms, inflammatory and infectious responses and cellular biology of cancer are investigated. Diagnosis and therapeutic concepts including preventive therapies and pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions with consideration of age and cultural variations are introduced.

This is a 3 credit hour course. Lectures of three hours are held weekly on Tuesdays, 1135 - 1425, from September 6, 2016 until December 6, 2016. This contract runs from September 1, 2016 through December 23, 2016. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies.

2)      Lecturer for NURS2750.03 – Health & Healing II: Pathophysiology and Therapeutics (Winter term of the academic year 2016-2017)

Students will be introduced into integrating knowledge of disease, diagnosis and person-centred management as a key to successful nursing practice. Specific disease processes related to body systems are described and mechanisms of therapeutic options for management are evaluated. Evidence to support use of pharmacological, non-pharmacological, alternative and complementary treatments is evaluated.

This is a 3 credit hour course consisting of 3 lecture hours per week on Tuesdays, 1135 - 1425, from January 9, 2017 until April 10, 2017. This contract runs from January 1, 2017 through to April 30, 2017. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·     Development of teaching and learning activities related to course-specific topics (e.g., pharmacology)

·       Co-teach course content

·       Assessment and evaluation of student learning

·       Use of Brightspace for course delivery

·       Responding to student queries about coursework in collaboration with the other co-teacher

·       Attending initial instruction with Instructional Learning Online services re: Brightspace

·       Participation in course discussions within the program

·       Develop and administer examinations

·       Submission of grades

·       Follow up with students as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Candidates must hold a graduate degree in Nursing, or related field, with a strong background in pharmacology including pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Prior  teaching experience an asset.  PhD preferred
