POSITION: Part-Time Academic - THEA 1450.06: Introduction to Costume Studies (September 1, 2016 – April 30, 2017)
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Fountain School of Performing Art - Costume Studies, 6389 Coburg Road, Suite 301, Halifax, NS B3H 2A5

PAY RATE: As per CUPE Collective Agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic will take responsibility for the teaching and grading of THEA 1450.06: Introduction to Costume Studies for the 2016/17 academic year. Duties will include preparation of lectures and technical demonstrations, course materials and assignments, and the evaluation of students’ work. The successful candidate will work in consultation and coordination with the full-time faculty and supervise the work of one teaching assistant.
This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: MA or MFA in Theatre, Costume Studies, or related discipline. Candidates with a BA or BFA in Theatre, Costume Studies or related discipline and substantial professional experience in clothing construction in general will be considered. Experience of teaching at the university level, with documented evidence of teaching ability, is an asset.

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Fountain School of Performing Art - Costume Studies, 6389 Coburg Road, Suite 301, Halifax, NS B3H 2A5

PAY RATE: As per CUPE Collective Agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic will take responsibility for the teaching and grading of THEA 4452.03: The Sculpture of Dress for the 2016 Fall Term, which includes a focus on building costume directly on the human body or mannequin. Responsibilities for this class will also include the preparation of lectures, course materials, and assignments.
This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: MA or MFA in Theatre, Costume Studies, or related discipline. Candidates with a BA or BFA in Theatre, Costume Studies or related discipline and substantial professional experience in relevant discipline will be considered. Duties will include preparation of lectures, course materials and assignments and the evaluation of students’ work.
This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Minimum of an MA or near-completion of an MA in History, Theatre, Costume Studies or related discipline. Strong knowledge of costume and dress history is essential. Previous experience of teaching at a university, with documented evidence of teaching ability, is an asset.
