We are recruiting participants to take part in a research study using a new mobile map application to help investigate different services in the Halifax waterfront area. You cannot be overly familiar with the Waterfront Area of Halifax (for example, you cannot live or work in this area). You will use a provided Smartphone that includes a new mobile map-based prototype that you will use for the study. You will perform a set of tasks while being videotaped using this Smartphone map application to find and locate different points of interest (e.g., a coffee shop).
To participant you:
· need to be comfortable walking for a 40 minutes with stops
· need to have some experience using a Smartphone or a small screen device
· agree to be videotaped while performing the study
The study will be conducted in the waterfront area of Halifax. The study will take about one and half to 2 hours to complete (1.5-2 hours). If you are interested, you should email the researcher listed below. The researcher will send you a link to a consent form and online survey: a short demographic survey, survey where you will self-rate your sense of direction, and a survey to measure your spatial aptitude. You will arrange a time to meet with a researcher at pre-arranged location in the waterfront area. When we meet, complete a set of tasks using the mobile map application followed by an interview. Compensation is a $20.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Ankitaben Patel (an645690@dal.ca).
